Day trip to Trouville-Deauville and Honfleur

8 September 2015
Deauville-Trouville and Harfleur

I spent a day in Trouville-Deauville and Honfleur with my friend Emilie in July. Deauville-Trouville is a seaside in the North of France. A lot of Parisians go there to see the sea. And Honfleur is a charming harbour town about 16km away from Deauville.

We woke up very early (around half five) and spent the two and a half hour train ride chatting away merrily. We finally arrived in the pretty town of Deauville that I had been to before but that I was happy to be visiting again.

Being the wonderful friend that I am, I had let Emilie organise everything.

She planned our day perfectly: we took a coach from the Deauville train station to Honfleur. The coach ride (that cost less than three euros!) was a journey in itself: lush forests on either side of the road, little houses that were as cute as buttons and a beautiful blue sky to look at.

We spent about three hours in Honfleur. We admired the appetizing stalls at the food market, sipped on strawberry iced tea in a café and devoured salami, cheese, fresh bread and bright red strawberries on the harbour for our lunch. The seagulls watched us enjoying our meal with their beady eyes.

We returned to Deauville and walked along the beach and ate ice cream. But I’ll let you take a look at the photos!

This is what we saw when we got down from the coach. We were off to a good start!

A reading box for borrowing books for free! I loved the idea but I didn’t take anything because I wouldn’t have been able to put the book back.

Ps: Emilie not only took all the photos in this post, she also wrote a very poetic article all about day trips from Paris! It’ll have you booking your train tickets within minutes! You can read it here.
